    Part 2:
I disagree with the statement “women today are more often treated by men as equals” for many reasons. Women have never been seen as equal to men, ever since the beginning of time. I believe that as long as there are mean people in the world, women will never been seen as equal. There is still a very significant wage gap between men and women in today’s world, and men are more likely to get hired for a job if put up against a women with the same resume. Also, after doing the social injustice research project on sexism, I learned so many things about how hard women have to fight to gain the rights and the respect that they deserve. Even though the role of women in the household has changed, they are still not seen as the most prominent figures in the work force. Also, there are still many people out there who think women are not fit to be active members of society and belong at home taking care of the family. Many still believe that men should always be the primary breadwinners. I do think, however, that women are a very united group and will never stop fighting for what they believe in. There needs to be more recognition of sexism in society, because it is a big problem. I have faith in the future of women because of the strong figures and role models inspiring people today. The feminism movement is gaining momentum and will soon be impossible to stop. We also owe a lot to the early feminists who first realized the need to abolish sexism. I truly hope that one day, men will see women as their social, political, physical, and intellectual equals, because that is what we deserve. Sadly, that day has not yet come.

    2. I agree. I think that women will possibly never be seen as equal to men due to past stereotypes. Thoughts like these will never go away as they are passes down through families when teaching a child morals. If a parent believes that women are not equal to men and teaches their child that, then there will still be that belief.

    3. I agree with this argument and believe that the women will soon be equal but the day has just not come yet.

    4. I agree. We may never live to see the day when men and women are truly equal, but we can strive for this goal and hopefully this day will come.

    5. I agree with Isabella. Although some of the world believes that women and men are treated equal, there are still arguments between these two genders about equality.

    6. I agree strongly with Isabella. There will probably not be a day were men and women are equal, because there are still men that believe women should not be equal to men. In till men change there view and opinions on women being equal. Women will truly not be equal to men.

“ People that are poor should rely on their friends, family, or church for help, not the government.”
Money is an important essential for living. On a day to day basis people spend money on all sorts of things they need in order to survive. People need food, water and shelter. Without them people wouldn’t be able to survive for long. Food, water, and shelter is expensive and sadly some people just do not have the money. People that are poor tend to rely on the government, friends, family or even the church. Although, “friends, families, and religion can help these people, but they shouldn't rely on them”. With that being said the poor should not rely on friends family or religion because it should be the government's job to support the people that need it and care for their country, which includes the citizens that live there.
The government is in a lot of debt but if we have a lot of poor people who cannot afford to survive it could cause a lot disruption amongst the country. Poor people may become desperate and start to steal from people, companies etc. Also poor people might lash out and hurt people. People without a lot of money can do much harm in a country so if the government simply helps them we won't have that problem.
If friends, family, and the church help the poor people too much then those people that offering the help can eventually be without money and may suffer as well. Yes it is okay to offer help, but if someone is relying on a person or church to much it could cause much stress. The people and/or church offering the help could begin feeling like the people asking for help is there responsibility and the government should be responsible for the people, rather than the people themselves.
In conclusion the government should offer the help to the people in need. It should not be friends, family, or the church of a poor person’s responsibility to care for a poor person. Some help is okay but a poor person should not rely on them. The government needs to set up more programs to help the poor rather than letting the poor rely on their friends, family or the church.

    Part 2:
I agreed with the statement “euthanasia is morally acceptable.” This topic is very controversial and I can most definitely see why. However, through personal experiences I feel as though nothing anyone says can change my mind. If a person is in pain and there is nothing left that you can do and the person has their mind set on it then it is okay. People will usually say that it is selfish and that they might regret it or that their loved ones will be distraught, but at the end of the day the doctors should only be considering the needs of the patient. If the patient decides that euthanasia is the best choice then there should be no argument, especially if the illness is terminal. Euthanasia is never a reckless choice, the person has obviously thought about the consequences to the people around them so I feel that it is best to just let them do what they feel is right. Not only that, but it is the patient’s body and not anyone else’s. I am a firm believer that a person has the right to choose how to handle what is going on in one’s body. I understand that the drugs do not always work and that it might end up with more pain for the patient but this is a big deal. If the patient is in enough pain to want to just end it all, I can assure you that they know what they are doing when making this decision. People can call euthanasia selfish because the patient is putting their needs before many others’ but that would also work the other way around. People are so worried about their own feelings that they can just let the patient live their life in indescribable pain without their will to live just so that their feelings will not get hurt. In conclusion, according to my morals, euthanasia is acceptable.

    4. I completly agree with you and Ben. If a person is terminally ill and suffering they should always have this right. If we would do it for our pets why not our loved ones. A person should never be left to suffer if there is something that can be done to stop it.

    Anticipation/ Reaction
I firmly believe that a true friend will tell you the truth even when you don’t want to hear it. If a friend knows something that you should know but will hurt you and decides to keep it from you, it could end up hurting you after you find out yourself. Say for instance rumors are being spread about you and your friend knows and you don’t, it would be better for your friend to let you know so you can handle the situation before it spreads. If your friend did not tell you about the rumor, the situation could have easily gotten out of hand and ended up hurting you. There could also be little things, such as your friend having to tell you if your pants are on backwards or something of that matter. Although, there are also more important things such as a friend trying to help you out with relationship problems, say they know a person is not right for you but you still try to stick with them and they keep their mouth shut, they could just end up hurting you by keeping you in a position that could possibly lead you to an uncomfortable life or relationship. For instance if your friend breaks up with someone who hurt them and are thinking of getting back together with them, they may be blinded by love and would have no one to let them know that they are throwing themselves into a pit of pain and despair. If someone is a true friend and they are stuck between whether or not to tell their friend back off, they would tell them to back off because a true friend would not allow their friend to get sucked into said pit. It becomes an uncontrollable endless cycle and could ruin lives. Overall, I believe a true friend will tell you the truth even if you don’t want to hear it.http://www.clutchmagonline.com/2012/04/true-friends-put-you-in-check/

    2. I agree with this completely. I think a real friend always wants what is best for you, and will tell you the truth. I also agree with the fact that it is better to hear the truth immediately than to find it out second-hand. It is important to find friends who will tell the truth.

    3. I agree that friends should tell you the truth no matter the circumstances. A true friend will save you the despair of finding out "the hard way" and tell you themselves. Even if the situation is saddenning, it is much more comforting to find out the truth from a friend than from another source.

    4. I definitely agree with this argument. True friends should always tell you the truth even if it is something you probably do not want to hear. I have been stuck in this situation before and know how it feels. It is very difficult to decide to tell the truth or lie to make somebody feel good, but even though the truth can hurt it could also save the person.

Part 2: I do not agree that life is easier today than in the 1930s. You can base whether you agree or disagree with this statement by looking at many topics. First of all, you can look at equality between citizens, especially comparing citizens of different races. In the 1930s, there was a lot of racism and nobody was treated as equals compared to white men. This made it much harder for people of a different race to live a good life. Most struggled with finding a job and earning enough money to support their family. At least in the present, racism issues are better. Citizens are definitely created more equal than in the 1930s. There have been many steps taken to improve on racism. Different races now have many rights and are almost treated equally to white men, but not exactly. Lastly it was more difficult to live during the 1930s because this was the time of the Great Depression. This was a bad time in our country where there were food and home shortages. Many starved and walked miles and miles, trying to find a place to stay. Numerous people lost their jobs, and could no longer support their family, which caused many fmailies to grow poor and homeless. Many citizens had to suffer greatly during this time of severe shortage, and some even died due to starvation. In present day most people have three meals a day, with a roof over their heads and a family to care for them. Many people take advantage of this in present day, and do not think of how others (like in the 1930s) are suffering and living homeless. Clearly it was harder and more difficult to live during than 1930s in the Great Depression rather than in present day.

    2. I agree. Although there is still poverty, homelessness, and other difficulties, it is no where near what it was like in the 1930's. During the Great Depression, many people were left without jobs and a lot if people didn't even have enough money to feed their families from day to day.

    3. I agree with this statement. We have a lot of privileges people in the 1930s did not have access to, and it easier for people in poverty to receive help now. I also think society has accepted a lot of differences in race and religion.

Is life Today Harder than the 1930s Life?
I don't agree with the statement “Life today is more difficult than it was in the 1930’s” for many reasons. Every day we caught up in all our stress of life, and it seems bad at times, but I do not think it is nearly as hard as life in 1930s. During the 1930s, the stock market had crashed and put many people in many tough situations without work. Many normal families that lived during this time lost jobs and were forced to leave their homes to try to find shelter and food. Many kids, just like many kids today, were struggling to find food and continue their lives, and it was not pleasant. So it is very unreasonable to say that life today is harder than life back in the 1930s. Another reason why I don't agree with that statement is that many people were out of work and forced to work on farms. Many people traveled long distances to be able to work on farms. One reason people's lives on farms were harder was a natural disaster called the dust bowl. This natural disaster turned farms into deserts. Many people had very little money too, which they could not use to recover from this. This dust bowl brought extreme drought. Another reason why the 1930s life was harder than today is that many people that were homeless made little houses out of scrap metal. People in the cities had to rely on soup kitchens for a food source, about ⅓ Americans lost their jobs. These are all reasons that the statement that “life today is more difficult than it was in the 1930s,” is not true. We are all pretty lucky today to have what we have and not have to deal with what the people in the 1930s had to deal with.

People that are poor should rely on their friends, family, or church for help, not the government.
I strongly disagree with this statement. Yes, the poor should seek help from the ones that are closest to them. If they are true friends and family, they will be willing to help regardless. The same goes for churches. Depending on the religion, fellow church goers would be willing to help as well, especially if it means that they can be closer to their ‘Superior Being’ (whomever that may be). However, the government should help those in need, as well. In society, it is the government’s job to ensure the protection and wellbeing of its citizens. As American citizens, we pay taxes. We elect government officials. We serve jury duty, and most of us obey the laws. As we do this, we should expect protection, assistance, defense, as well as things such as education, in return. If the government cannot do such things, then it is not fulfilling their duties.

A true friend will tell you the truth, even when you don’t want to hear it.
I agree with this statement. One who would disagree may question this. Aren’t friends supposed to comfort you? Why would they want to make you feel bad? What if you become offended? Yes, these claims are true. However, a true friend would be able to “see into the future”, so to speak. They’ll tell you the truth because, even though it may hurt now, the overall outcome of the situation would be better. If a friend lied, then the pain one would feel at the end of the road would be greater than if the truth was spoken from the beginning. Sometimes, people just need a reality check to help them get back on track. A true friend would realize this, and would comfort them throughout any conflict the person may have.

Life today is more difficult than it was in the 1930’s.
I strongly disagree with this statement. Technology has provided several ways to make life easier. The device you are currently reading this on has made your life easier. You do not have to read this out of a book. I did not have to type this on a typewriter. We do not have to manually cite our essays. This is only the beginning, as we do not have to trade our personal items for food, we do not have to walk an hour to get to the nearest grocery store. You don’t even have to leave your own home in order to shop! Some may say that life back in the 30’s was more simple, but the technologies we have been provided this day and age have greatly made our lives easier.

I disagree with the statement “being rich is more important than having close friends.” In most cases, people wish and hope to be rich one day. In my opinion, who needs a ton of money when you have other people in your life to trust and depend on? I'm sure there are some people out there that find happiness within money and material objects. Besides this, people who value great amounts of money and don't have close friends can tend to be lonely and miserable in life. They do not have anyone to turn to or rely on because all they care about is how much money they have. People who do not necessarily care all too much about money and have close friends to turn to tend to much happier in life. Personally speaking, I can definitely say I've wished I had more money or that one day I will be rich, but if it's a choice to be financially secure and then some, or have some of my best friends by my side, I would choose my friends every time. Money can only solve so many problems. Friends that have your back no matter what, can get you through any predicament you face in life. A person who has struggled financially and had a friend to get them through it is more likely to be happier in life than someone who is wealthy and all alone. Friends bring happiness and joy to others. Money is not much to rely on and isn't a very good way to find happiness in life. Friends can stay with you throughout your entire life. Money comes and goes. As you can see, people need more than just a plethora of money. They need friends who will stay by them through everything.

I agree with the statement " Euthanasia is morally acceptable." I can see how people could have opinions that differ, but due to personal experience with this topic I agree completely. Many times when a person is terminally ill such as a coma or just on life support, the patient's loved ones are not ready to let them go. Therefore they allow them to continue to suffer as they want their loved one to be with them longer. I have personal experience with this as when my grandfather was terminally ill, his girlfriend was not ready to let him go so he was left living with no quality of life and in constant pain. This happens to many people as they forget that it is more about having the person alive so that they can still go visit them. When a person is to the point where euthanasia is being suggested, this person quality of life is completely gone. People are often called selfish when they do not agree to euthanasia however I understand that it can be hard to let go if you really love someone, however over time most people come around to agree with my statement. Overall, I believe it should be up to the doctor whether or not euthanasia is the right path to go, I would say it should be up to the doctors and patient collectively, but often when it gets to this point the patient is not in a state of mind where they can make this decision. I believe that when this decision is left up to emotionally attached family member’s that they do not think about what would truly be best for the patient. I also believe that this route will never be the wrong way to go as long as the person is actually terminally ill and has almost no quality of life or is in constant pain. Therefore, I will almost always believe that Euthanasia is morally acceptable as long as the person is actually that seriously ill.

    2. I agree greatly. I feel like someone has the decision if they want to live or not. I also feel that the people performing the act should not be arrested or be in any kind of trouble because they have the consent of the person.

A true friend will tell you the truth, even when you don't want to hear it.

You know someone is a true friend when they tell you the truth no matter how bad it is. A true friend would not hold secrets from you or talk behind your back. They would be there to tell you anything. The reason for this is because they always want the very best for you. Alex Lickerman M.D. states why by saying “A true friend is consistently willing to put your happiness before your friendship.” What Lickerman means by this is it is more important to a true friend that you are happy even if it means they cannot be friends with you anymore for whatever reason. Although you may think, why would you tell someone something when it could cause you to not be friends anymore? Think about people you consider your best friends or “true” friends. You will start to see that you would hope to hear the truth from them no matter what it is. They may have an opinion on something they think will help you or save you from being hurt in the future. You should see this as them telling you out of friendship because it may be exactly what you need to hear, not to make you mad. I also think that you should be accepting of the truth even if you do not want to hear it because a true friend has the intentions of finding what is best for you.https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/happiness-in-world/201002/what-makes-true-friend

    Part Two:
Vigilantism is a Form of Chaos, not Justice
I disagree with the statement of “When people are a victim of a crime, they should be able to take the law into their own hands.” The fact that they were a victim of a crime gives them great motive to give the person who committed the crime deserved punishment. However, they will most likely go overboard with a punishment and can commit a crime of their own. For this reason, the judicial system was established by our forefathers. In a perfect society, the judicial system would bring to justice all of those who committed crimes. This is why we rely on judges, lawyers, police and investigators to properly carry out justice to those who deserve it and protect victims of crime, no matter the circumstances. Though Trial by Jury may not serve justice every time, the members of the jury are a much more reliable source of justice opposed to ordinary people who “feel they are being threatened.” Another reason why taking the law into one’s hands is inefficient is because “self-defense” could be an excuse for committing a crime with motive. If people created their own form of justice, their actions would be based off of vengeance, opposed to justice. Many believe that taking the law into their own hands is a form of a society built on chaos. Conversely, other people believe in vigilantism and delivering their own form of justice to those who have committed crimes against them. In real life, during the 1980’s in New York City, Bernhard Goetz gained notoriety as the “Subway Vigilante” who was charged with shooting and wounding four teenagers who he felt were a threat due to a previous mugging. This began a controversial national argument as to whether it is moral or legal to take the law into one’s own hands. Many people at the time were sympathetic to Goetz as “New Yorkers, tired of the crime that had gripped their home, vaulted Goetz to hero status” (Bernhard Goetz, Biography.com). Those who supported Goetz as a hero were missing the legal aspect of the situation because an illegal firearm was in his possession. In essence, Goetz was a criminal himself but felt he delivered well-deserved punishment to the teenagers. Though he may have felt threatened, it was not his place to fire shots because of a common situation New Yorkers face every day. Their action would not have resulted in execution if the judicial system sentenced them to punishment. In conclusion, the act of taking the law into one's own hands has been consistently proven to be detrimental to law and order in our society. Without law and order, our society becomes based on chaos.

    Part 2:
I disagree with the statement “women today are more often treated by men as equals”. In my opinion, in society today women, are treated more equal than they were in the past but not as equal as they should be. Throughout the past women had not be able to have jobs, have children or have the right to vote. Today, women can do all of these things. The wage gap between men and women is a huge issue. Men make at least twenty percent more than women on a regular basis. If a man and a women both apply to the same job the man will most likely receive the job than the women. Women used to run the household and the men used to go do the labor. Today, women can now go to work and some men choose to stay home and care for the family which was once the women’s responsibility. Women all over the world fought for their right to vote. Women gained their suffrage in the 1920’s. People in society believe that women do not belong in the workplace, but as discussed in class “there will always be mean people in the world”. As long as there is mean people in the world the discrimination towards women in the workforce and in society will remain prominent. Sexism is a huge problem that will continue in the future. Unfortunately this type of social injustice exist in our world today. I believe that women will continue to fight for their rights and will not stop until they get what is right. Women will soon politically, economically and socially take over the world and become huge figures. Women should have the respect that they deserve in society and sexism needs to be recognized as a huge problem. In the future I believe they day will come when everyone is treated the same and with respect.

A true friend will tell you the truth, even when you don’t want to hear it.
I do believe that a true friend should be the one to tell you the truth about something, even if it is hurtful or if you do not want to hear it. I believe that almost everybody had or has that one friend who has been by your side since the beginning. And usually, those people are always truthful with you. Although, there are some points where those people do not tell you everything or they are trying to hide something from you so you do not get hurt or embarrassed. It could be something as small as you have a piece of food stuck in your teeth, or something as big as the fact like there is a rumor going around about you. Your friends think they are just protecting you if they do not tell you, but then when you find out about it, it could hurt you even more. I believe that if you hear something from a close friend, then it will not hurt as much as it would if you heard it from someone else that you are not as close with. I think that when your friend is deciding on whether to tell you or not about a situation, they should put themselves in your situation and think about it like it is them who have rumors going on about themselves. Most times, if your friend does not tell you something right away, then it could ruin your friendship in the long run, and I do not think that your friends realize it. If your friends do not tell you something about what could be going on, then maybe those people are not your true friends, because they might not care about YOUR best interest

I disagree with the statement the American Dream is achievable for everyone. The American Dream is defined as the ideal lifestyle with freedom, equality, and opportunity, all while being economically stable. I think most would agree that this vision is not available for everyone. Factors like racism, sexism, ageism, homophobia, and religious discrimination can all make reaching goals significantly harder. Social injustice can affect salary, so some workers are unfairly paid, and being comfortable financially is the main idea of the American Dream. For example, the wage gap between women and men is still an important problem in our society today, since a percentage of people still believe the genders are unequal. Prejudice towards certain age groups can also prevent being able to find a job, since they are portrayed as being incapable. Another reason that the American Dream is still unattainable to some is that people of different cultures, races, and religions are still being discriminated against in our country. A large percentage of black American citizens feel they have been treated unfairly by police officers in their lifetime because of their skin color. Many are denied the same rights as other citizens, as well as being treated differently, and most likely unreasonably, Being treated equally is also a significant part of the American Dream. Living in poverty and having to deal with everyday expenses, as well as paying a substantial amount of money for college in order to get a reasonably paying job are major setbacks. The picture perfect American Dream is a goal most want to achieve, however barriers of social injustice can prevent people from making enough money, and being treated equally.

In my opinion, I would have to agree with the statement that “The best place for justice to be determined is in a court of law.” We live in a county where the government makes laws to protect its citizens. When a law is broken, a person cannot take it upon himself or herself to seek justice. For example, murder is against the law and there are certain consequences if a person commits that crime. Let’s say your friend is murdered and you saw the person do the killing. You cannot take justice into your own hands and kill the murderer because you may be charged with murder yourself. We need to let the courts decide what the penalty is for that murderer. A court of law will decide then if the murderer should spend his or her life in prison or maybe get the death penalty. If we did not have a court system, we would not be able to determine if the person was guilty or innocent and it would be chaos. It does not always have to be a criminal act that ends up being decided in court. There are many circumstances where courts have to administer justice. An example would be a company stealing someone’s ideas without paying that person or giving the person credit. If this happens, the person whose ideas were stolen may seek justice in court. Courts have judges and juries that will decide if the person is entitled to money for the stolen ideas. Sometimes there may be no other way but to seek justice in court. The legal system of this country was developed to make sure that laws are followed and if there is injustice, the courts are the way to solve the injustice. This is also why I disagree with the statement “Sometimes a person has to break the law to make sure justice is served.” I cannot think of any example where it is alright for a person to break the law to so that justice is served. Personally, I feel like better actions can be taken like alerting the police of a possible crime or going to court and suing the company. If people took justice into their own hands there would be anarchy in our country and it would be a scary place to live. In conclusion, I agree that a court of law is where justice should be decided.

I strongly disagree with placing wealth before friends, even though I myself thought money would be more important in life not even half a year ago. I saw that people can be mean, rude, and overall vulgar and money can grant me what I want, but I see today, through a great number of events, that in the end, friends will eventually overpower money later in life. To be completely honest, without my friends, I would not have made it as far as I am today. Countless times, I have had to ask a friend for assistance, or needed a shoulder to lean on, and every time, there was someone there for me. And, even if my life depended on it, I could never return the amount of support I have been given over the years, both in and out of school. Money can never replace how highly I think of my friends and what they have done for me. I have seen that money does not lead to happiness, nor will it ever. It is a corrupting force that splits family, ruins personality, and rips apart friends. I see now that my younger self would have strayed down the wrong path had I kept wealth before other aspects of my life. In life, wealth will only be able to solve so many problems before it becomes obsolete, and the stronger man would know that I hope that I will continue to have support from my friends, and hope to see the day I am finally able to pay off my debt. In the end, those who stick beside me now will stick beside me for good. No matter how much wealth and expense will pull at me and beckon me, I will know truly where I can put my trust.

    Part 2:
I agree with the statement “A true friend will tell you the truth, even when you don’t want to hear it” for a variety of reasons. Being a friend means that you are there for someone all of the time. A friend is someone who is trusted and has made a great impact on someone's life. Part of a friend's responsibility is to give you advice and tell you the truth even if you never want to hear it. It is important to have someone in your life who truly cares about you and it is even more import for you to listen to the advice that they give you. Sometimes it is hard to hear the truth, however it goes to show you that a true friend cares more about you then they do about the relationship. It takes courage for a friend to admit the truth, and the truth helps to show you who your true friends are in life. I believe that this statement separates friends from best friends. During my life, I have met many new people and have become friends with a lot of them, however I have come to realize that the friends that truly care for me go the extra step to show that they are there for me no matter what. For example, whenever I am sick, I always get texts from my friends asking me if I am okay, however my true friends as if there is anything they can do to help me get better. It's important to take every piece of advice, whether you want to hear it or not, because at some point in your life you will need a friend to fall back on. To conclude, friends who truly care about you will be by your side for forever, and it’s important to listen to what they are saying, even if it is hard to hear.

    Part 2:
I agree with the statement, “The American Dream is achievable for everyone.” Since the Colonial times, America has had many ambitious residents. As people became successful in America, the word spread to other countries about the many opportunities here. With those stories, people immigrated to America for the sole purpose of seeking their fortune and achieving their dreams. For many, the opportunities to succeed were plentiful. There are many “rags to riches” stories. The ability to succeed in America may be due to the size of the country and its growing population. Throughout the twentieth century the country’s population grew as immigrants came it from all over the world. As America entered World War II, the country needed lots of things for their armed forces. This created thousands of opportunities for people to succeed. From getting jobs working in factories to starting up businesses to manufacture things, opportunities existed at all levels of the workforce. In Rhode Island alone, many people made a good living making tools for the war effort. Once World War II was over, as men and women returned from overseas, they were given the chance to go to college, get an education, get good paying jobs, and start families. They needed places to live so that led to building of houses, apartments, schools, churches, and places to shop. In conclusion, all of these examples are of the American dream at work. The American Dream is not being rich and having fancy car. People making a good living, raising a family, maybe buying a house, and helping their children get a good education can all be considered parts of the American dream. These things happen to this day for immigrants and citizens alike. Anyone can achieve the American Dream.

Part 2: I disagree with the statement “women today are more often treated by men as equals”. Women’s Rights was my Google Slides presentation topic and along with listening to other groups with the same topic and researching this I believe that yes, women are more often treated as equals, but they are still viewed as inferior to men by many people. Today it is stated that women are as equal as men but in some ways this is not the case. Women are still known to be inferior to men. A large wage gap between both women and men still remains. Sadly, women are still frequently being payed less than men, although this has improved over the years. In almost every single career women are paid at least twenty percent less than men. Colleges will even pick a male if the female and the male have the same transcript. They are still looked at to be stay at home moms or the nurturer of the children. Many people believe in these stereotypical views. Yes, these are two major jobs within a family, but I know women today can be more than that. Women today have made different scientific breakthroughs, have become CEO’s and presidents of companies yet, there are many things women have not accomplished. Things like becoming president and having a high role within society. We have had forty four male presidents and it is time for a women to step up and have a large government position. Women fought for voting rights for many years and also their right to work. I believe that if we truly push for these advancements we will achieve them. These rights were earned over years of hard work and I believe if we use the same type of hard work and motivation women will be able to achieve anything. Women have a bright future.

I strongly disagree with the fact that, “Elderly citizens are valued and respected in society.” At least not in America that it is. I feel like here in the U.S. we as younger citizens of society don’t really respect our elders and their value. Our elders have lived through much worse times than us and many are still here to this day, They deserve some respect and love since all they do is care for us knowing we are the younger generation we will go on to do great things. For example, take a child and his grandmother. The grandmother loves her grandson and respects him, but usually he doesn’t feel the same way back. Typically he would use her to his own personal gain because your grandparents will do and buy anything for you. This is not the way to act towards your elders. They need more love and respect like they love and respect you and I feel like here in America they are not getting enough of it. In other cultures and countries elders are the most respected members of society, for how long they have lived and all the things they have seen. That's just not how it it is here. The greatest thing we can get from the elders of society is knowledge. Without them and people who have seen things long ago, we would know nothing and not be as educated as we are today. We have a lot of thanks to give to our elders for all they do ad provide for us. I’m not perfect so I have done things such as discriminate against the elderly and be rude to them, but I have learned it is wrong and that I need to respect these great people of society. Some may disagree with me on this, but I truly believe that our elders deserve more respect in society. Age discrimination is a horrible thing and can’t keep going on much longer. I feel like something needs to be done, but there are just too many rude and selfish people in this world.

I strongly disagree with the statement “Being rich is more important than having close friends.” People think that money can buy them everything and make them the happiest they have ever been in their life. This is not the case because people that only have money are often bored and depressed all the time without their family and friends. A close friend will always comfort you and be by your side in the best and the worst times. Yes, I would definitely love to be rich and be able to buy a nice house, cars, and other extravagant objects. But, if I had to choose between being rich and keeping my close friends, I would choose my friends every single time. I would not even need to think about it, when I am with my friends, that is when I am the happiest and having the most fun. If a person that only cared about money suddenly lost all of it, they would not anyone to turn to. They would have no friends to stick by them and get them through this time of hardship. This person would be alone and miserable. On the other hand, if an average person, with close friends, lost all of their money, they could turn to their friends and family to help them. They would be able to work through the tough time and build their life back up. Money cannot buy you true friends and happiness. A rich person might able to get friends by buying them gifts. That ‘friend’ only likes that person for the stuff that he/she has, not for them as a person. That is not a true friend. That ‘friend’ would probably leave you if you lost all of your money. Whereas a poor person with a true friend will always stick by them no matter what happens. Having close friends is definitely more important than being rich.

Overall, I believe a true friend will tell you the truth even if you don’t want to hear it.

    1. I agree with this strongly. A true friend will tell you if something is wrong, especially if it will benefit your well being.

    2. I strongly agree with this statement. A true friend will not let you look foolish, or fail even if that means telling you and unwanted truth.

    Part 2:
Is Breaking the Law Sometimes Necessary to Serve Justice?
I agree with this statement strongly, and this is for many reasons. A couple examples being revolutions in countries such as in the United States or in France, and something more recent being the case involving Edward Snowden. In short for revolutions, people had to stand up to their countries and commit crimes to benefit the general welfare. People had to make sacrifices for the greater good, and to create a better country. This is also what Edward Snowden did, and directly relates to why breaking the law is necessary to serve justice. In this situation a couple years ago a man named Edward Snowden who worked for the CIA and NSA had leaked government secrets about people’s privacy, and how it is invaded. This is a serious crime as the information was supposed to be kept secret, and he was forced to flee to Russia. Although, from his sacrifice and by breaking the law, it had served justice the the United States government for invading people’s privacy, and therefore benefitted the general welfare of the people. In this situation, and this can apply to a lot of situations, breaking the law was necessary to serve justice. In this link (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/sep/13/edward-snowden-why-barack-obama-should-grant-me-a-pardon) is an article about Edward Snowden, and how what he did had benefitted all American citizens. It also tells of how it is a possibility that he may be granted a pardon by President Obama before his term is over. This was because what he had done had served justice and in many people's words, was the morally right thing to do. Overall, it may come down to morals, but sometimes it may be the right thing to do even if it’s illegal.

    Part:2
I agree with the statement “Sometimes a person has to break the law to make sure justice is served.” Over time, if people did not break the law by protesting to get rights they deserve, our country would not be living up to its principles of democracy and equality. There would still be slavery, women would not have any rights. Our country would be a mess. If Martin Luther King Jr. did not break laws to serve justice African Americans would not be equal to whites. If Martin Luther King Jr. did not lead an illegal march in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963 he would not have furthered the Civil Rights Movement. If Susan B. Anthony did not lead the National Women’s Suffrage Movement, women would not have the right to vote. Susan B. Anthony led the National Women’s suffrage Movement. This movement was meant to agitate an amendment for the Constitution. Susan B Anthony tried multiple times to add an amendment to the Constitution, but failed. She later got arrested while trying to vote in the presidential election in 1872. Without Susan B. Anthony, I picture my life being very different. Being a women, I would not be able to do the things I admire such as getting an education, playing soccer, eventually voting and having a great career making me an independent person. For a person to break the law to serve justice takes courage and bravery and without these people fighting for our rights, our lives would be much different then they are today. After doing the social injustice project, I learned a great deal of information regarding the sacrifices of the people who have lead movements to create a better life for themselves and others. Another movement that broke laws to serve justice is the Disability Rights Movement. Without the Disability Rights Movement, people who have mental illnesses would still be in hospitals or institutions today. I believe people who break the law to serve justice for a belief they have is courageous, not wrong. They are standing up for themselves and people of future generations to follow.

I strongly support the statement “true friend will tell you the truth, even when you don’t want to hear it”. This describes how friends should be honest with each other. If you had a true friend that person would be there for you and would support you. With that being said a true friend would not want to see you fail, get embarrassed or be made fun of. So for instance say you had a note on your back and you were walking down the hallway. A true friend would take it off as soon as they knew about it. Another example would be when you were wearing something that you thought was nice but is really not that great. When you ask a true friend if they like it they would give their 100% honest answer. A true friend is supposed to be there for you to talk and to comfort you. True friends are almost like having a parent with you at times as crazy as that sounds. They will tell you when something is good and something is not great even if you do not want to hear it. What is the point of having a friend that lies to you? If you were talking to a friend about something really important in your life, and you did not know what to do, and your friend did not want to hurt your feelings so they lie to you. That may make you feel good, but it does not help the situation out at all. When you end up facing that situation and you take the advice of that friend, and it is the wrong advice, you will end up being even more hurt. A true friend will not lie to you, and will always tell you the truth.

    Part 2:

"The American Dream Is Achievable For Everyone"

In the 1930s, the Great Depression era, this concept of the American Dream was all these people who were laid off from their jobs and had nowhere to go. This idea that anyone can get ahead in life is, I imagine helpful to them. It helped them get through their difficult lives. I feel for them. And at the risk of sounding like pessimist, I think the American Dream is dead.
The majority of the students in Cranston HS West were born into middle America to predominantly Caucasian, white collar parents. And because of this most of us will turn into white collar workers. Obviously not all of us but a great majority certainly will. Basically my point is: because of the circumstances of our births, we will be successful in the working world. And not because we worked hard for a living wage. Most of us will attend college. Some out of state and make lives out of town in other beautiful cities and have portrait lives. We will not be successful for our hard work for the most part.
But the other side of the coin is the African-American girl born in Chicago who doesn't get the same support I would. She's born into a hard life already and isn't always taught the way to stand up to adversity. So she doesn't pay attention in school and gets a low paying job that doesn't require a high school diploma and can barely pay her rent.
This girl is why I believe the American Dream is dead. Because in theory, she could get that beautiful life in a beautiful city, but the cards are stacked against her and everyone in her life system can't help her. The rich will always get richer and the poor will always get poorer. I know this is an extremely pessimistic outlook but that's how I feel. And I'm lucky to live where I do and be who I am.

The strong belief I have throughout the choices was “Euthanasia is morally acceptableble.” If somebody that has a sickness of some sort that makes them suffer each and everyday, I believe they have the right to choose if they want to follow the procedures of Euthanasia, or an assisted suicide. Everyone has the right to decide how they should die.Death is a private matter, and if you are not hurting anyone else, the state should not interfere. Most people would have their pets put down if they were suffering, this would be regarded as putting them out of their misery and kindness. Why can’t the same kindness be given to humans? Illness can take away the ability to make choices while euthanasia allows you to take back control in deciding to die. Some people do believe with these illnesses they have no quality of life. Keeping people alive costs a lot of money, which could be used to save other people's lives as well. Quality of life is a main issue. If someone is enjoying happy relationships, can communicate, and is not in unbearable pain, then most people would agree that euthanasia is wrong. But, if the patient cannot communicate or is suffering so much they cannot enjoy life, then some would argue that euthanasia might be the best option. It all depends on how the patient is feeling, and the people that oppose this idea should put themselves in someone else's shoes that is going through this. An article i found would support my claim was Legalizing Euthanasia from SCUhttps://www.scu.edu/ethics/focus-areas/bioethics/resources/legalizing-euthanasia/. The article was about two students Derek Humphry and Richard Gula, and their stands upon how legalizing euthanasia can happen for patients that are in that much pain. Those are my views on “Euthanasia is morally acceptable”, but only acceptable to those who have an illness of some sort.
